Description: National Institute of Solar Energy(NISE), an autonomous institution of MNRE, is implementing the National Solar Mission and to coordinate research, technology, and other related works. NISE is maintaining a solar photovoltaic module testing laboratory, battery testing facility, lighting system test laboratory and a water pumping system. The center has fully developed a testing facility for small and large size solar thermal and outdoor test facilities. The institute is also involved in the demonstration, standardization, interactive research, training and testing solar technologies and systems. It is an effective interface between the Government and institutions, industry & user organizations for development, promotion and widespread utilization of solar energy in the country.

Aim of the visit: With a view of coming at par with the institution, this visit at NISE was planned wherein students got the insight of photovoltaic panels, Water heaters, Air conditioning & cooling unit and Thermal energy storage (cold storage).

The outcome of the visit: The students were able to understand the concepts of converting solar energy to various types of energies.
